The survival rate for people who are detected with
cancer in the early stages is quite high. It is important to regularly have
screening tests for early detection.
Testing for cancer is now very common and many hospitals have the
facility to perform these cancer screening tests. There is a lot of information
about cancer that is being spread around to create a general awareness about
cancer.
Test for
cancer detection
There are different tests for cancer affecting
different parts of the body. People who are likely to be affected are advised
to regularly take the cancer screening tests. With a cancer screening test the
growth of cancer cells can be detected in the initial stages which can help a
person get Cancer Prevention Treatment.
When the growth of cancer cells is discovered they can be removed or killed
using preventive treatment such as radio therapy.
Screening for Nasopharyngeal cancer
The NP Screen test has been devised for the early
detection of nasopharyngeal
cancer. It is a genetic based test which is a simple and painless procedure. An
oral sample is taken from the back of the throat of the likely candidate and
sent to the lab for testing. In a couple of weeks they send back the test
results. If the results come back positive then cancer preventive
treatment is started immediately. In such situations the survival rate
is 90%.
Symptoms of cancer
Since
there are no particular symptoms for cancer people are advised to take note of
any bodily changes that occur. These could be early signs and should be brought
to medical attention. Due to the lack of symptoms usually cancer is only
detected in the later stages when there is no chance for survival. This is one
of the main reasons that test for cancer detection
is advised. Nasopharyngeal cancer is very popular among the southern Chinese
community and the government advises all the South East Asian community to
regularly perform the NP Screen test.
