Cancer is something that everyone would prefer to have nothing to do with. However it creeps up stealthily when you are most unprepared. Different types of cancer and treatment options for cancer

Each type is unique with a set of causes, symptoms and treatment options. Similar to other diseases, a few types of cancers are more common. 

Common Types of Cancer

The most commonly diagnosed cancer is skin cancer. The other common types of cancer are bladder cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, leukemia, kidney cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, melanoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer and thyroid cancer.

What is blood cancer?

The cells in the bone marrow that are responsible for the production of red blood cells, platelets and white blood cells sometimes become cancerous. This is called leukemia or lymphoma. Blood cancer can be categorized as lymphoma, leukemia, multiple myeloma and Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia.

Bone Cancer

It is a relatively rare kind of cancer affecting children and adults alike; however, affect children and teens more. There are certain types of bone cancer, the most common among them are Ewing’s Sarcoma and Osteosarcoma. 

Brain Cancer

Brain tumors can either be benign or malignant. Brain tumors do not spread. They affect only the brain. Different types of cancer affecting the brain include adult brain tumor, ependymoma, brain stem glioma, cerebellar astrocytoma, medulloblastoma, and the like. 

Digestive/Gastrointestinal Cancers 

This includes cancers affecting anything from the esophagus down to the anus. These include anal cancer, bile duct cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, gall bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, rectal cancer, stomach cancer, and small intestine cancer.
Other cancers include endocrine cancers, eye cancer, genitourinary cancers, gynecologic cancers, head and neck cancers, respiratory cancers and skin cancers. 

Treatments for cancer

There are some cancer treatments that are very successful when the cancer is detected and treated at an early stage. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy or a combination of both has been largely used as reliable cancer treatments.
